I like the idea and composition of your photo, but I think it misses the point of the brief.
The page flipping adds movement to the shot, and I would imagine that the entire thing should convey the idea of "not moving"
Maybe I'm wrong - maybe you're right.
Then there's also the technical bits and pieces.
The image seems a bit flat and lacking in tonality.

Especially in light of the fact that the closed aperture throws EVERYTHING into stark focus.

Nice idea, but lacking in colour composition.
Needs more contrast, and would possibly also benefit from being shot at sunrise or sunset.
