Okay, great idea but a few things to help this shot out. Bump up your aperture a stop or two to get everything in focus. OR stop it down and focus on the tip of the queen to get the other rooks just out of focus to draw your eye right to your main subject.

Now overall this shot has a really yellow and unattractive tone or "cast" to it. You can easily correct this with curves or the equivalent white balance adjustment with what ever software you are using. Also you can adjust this with most cameras by changing your white balance setting or your auto settings to tungsten or fluorescent. This will help eliminate this yellow cast.

Good eye and this shot meets the challenge well.
