yup ... simplicity does it in this challenge. The monochrome makes the viewer see some semblance of reality here ... Going from a warm image to a cold image. Putting money on this one for top 5 ... no top 4 ... hmmm.

Bearing the Cross

I like the idea - a woman bearing the cross could be a nice stock-photo shot for an article about many things in our society. This should generate some thought on the parts of many DPC members. Look-out... I'm about to get critical :) ... As far as the photo being a photo (rather than simply an idea) ... The POV and lighting here are average. There is not much drama other than the idea itself. The background is distracting and I think I might have tried to lay on the ground and shoot it upward to a point were I might be able to clone out the trees. Assuming it is a reference to Jesus, I think she needs to show more suffering to be fair -- Perhaps looking away from the camera - maybe up to the heavens might make it appear more thoughtful (or you could argue that she is look at "us") but I'm speaking strictly from an interesting photo standpoint. In conclusion ... (sorry to be long-winded), the model is beautiful and the image is striking ... Just too bad the sun wasn't more dramatic and the composition and POV were a little stronger. 6

Wow - greeat details. The complimentary nature of the colors is striking. The perfect positioning of the insects makes me think the bugs are dead ... The set-up and lighting is great -- just seems a tad faked considering the position of the "sky". 7
