I scored this a 5. I was bothered by the graininess and the focus. I think the vertical line in the background is distracting too. But I like the idea and the expression.

I think this is a good idea that suffered on the execution side of things. I believe a solid dark background for both sides would have been preferable to the split screen. The wrinkles on the white side are distracting. Focus seems off a bit, too.

I didn't vote for this photo, but I probably would have given it a 4 because of these problems.

Overall, I don't think this is your best work...and I am sure you were hurt because DPC voters probably don't regard this as a still life. I didn't vote for this, but I probably would have given it a 4 I'm sorry to say.

I love everything about this...except the blur (which you explained). Great expressions. (BTW, if you want to see some REAL blur wait until my next challenge - it will make your blur look like you're seeing better than 20/20 LOL). I like the colors here too. This is a very pleasant moment with people who make this shot come alive.

Not much to add to a top 10 score. (I am not worthy to comment...but I will anyway.)

I like the colors, the crop, and the range of tones - especially how you were able to keep the detail in the rusty sifter. Well done.

I like this one pretty much as it is. The only touch I think it needs is a bit more light on the head. Judging by the near top 20 finish others liked it as it is, too.

I wasn't wild about this shot, but now reading what you went through to get it, it deserves a better score than the 5 I gave it. The left photo flash was a bit strong giving too much reflection off your face and neck. (but here again, it's terrific for what you went through).

Clever use of PVC pipe. I can't wait to see what you do with Duct tape.

I love this image and think it should have scored higher. Sometimes I think humorous shots are at a disadvantage with DPC voters...but not with me. Good technique and lighting. I like the color of the background given all the complementary yellow in the subject.

I like this shot. The colors are good, the composition too. I might have liked it better if it were cropped a bit on the bottom so you could get in tighter on his face and still get the prize toys in the shot.
