Am I Trapped In My Sins?by JudiComment: Judi, this one has taken photography well into the realm of illustration. As far as I'm concered I think it's a brilliant example of a vision very well executed. You deserve lots of kudos for being able to create such a piece and I hope that those that don't care for expert editing in DPC can at least appreciate the skill, time and initial ideas required to make such a vision come to be. Bravo. |

Tabathaby bex85Comment: Cute horse and I love buckskins but the composition of this photo leaves something to be desired. I sure would have liked to seen it either a square or a horizontal image so you could see more of the horse. I know, usually 'horse monents' are fleeting but all the sky is kind of dead space in this pic. I do like the shallow DOF to bring attention to the head and the exposure is good too. |

...by a headby sidpixelComment: This is a nice environmental portrait and I so wanted to score it really high but, alas, I know too much (about horses that is) so I have to vote closer to the middle! I don't care for the shadow on the forehead that comes into his eye and the heavy shadow of the rider on the top of his neck. I do understand it is a compormise one sometimes has to make when there is no second shot to get. The position of the horses head & neck is fairly high giving away that the horse is not in one of the prettier parts of his stride. Just a step or two later and the head would be lower and would make the head lower and make it look like he was in a better frame and using his 'engine' (the hind end) more than the resistant looking head in the sky. I would have like to seen a little less of the background and a little more of the rider compositionally. Maybe more than you wanted to know, but there you go! |

Looking Outby Renee_JordanComment: I want to photograph this horse! what amazing eyelashes and forlock. The pic itself seems a bit tilted but he may have been moving his head. It's a bit soft and you can see his bad habits of chewing on the wood. Exposure is good and overall composition is nice (except for the tilt illusion) I would have also removed that little piece of sawdust from his forlock before I shot given a choice. |

Yearling Arabian Coltby sfmorrisComment: Not a bad portrait of a gawky age. this would be even better if it was a vertical and had some of the horses chest showing to help give his head & neck a base. It also looks as if you used a lens at less than 100mm which tends to make his hind look too small for him. For horse portraits a good zoom (and back up far from them) is a must to avoid the distortion..... unless, of course, you are going for a humorous super wide angle shot, in which case it needs to be obvious that it was intentional. |
