i'm very surprised that this photo scored only at 5.0 (i rated it a 7 and think it should have done better than my submission). to some, the washed out look might have been too . . . non-perfect photo (blech!), but as i look at it again (and i don't know the layout) perhaps if the cropping hadn't been so tight (assuming beyond the border would be interesting) that might be another suggestion. whatever, its better than your score and keep on doing what you're doing. cheers, tom

this should have scored much better (i had given you a 7). its quite cool, the colors are great, the focus is perfect, it matches the challenge . . . if only the masses could have seen all of that.

i didn't vote on this image, and having read through the comments, yeah the quality/pixelation etc (i don't know if that was intentional or not, but if it is, in the future you might want to add that to your comment box above, although we can only see it after the fact ;-).

all that said, there is no way this photo should have come in last place. this photo shows excellent contrast of object and the nothing-ness white background, its obviously a wheel, one of the keys the the rise of human civilization and transportation, and its got a cool edgy look. keep on shoot'n. tom

you might have framed the text inside a 'flag', but still its neatly done, and nice image too! i think you might have been able to manipulate things to bring out the sunset's colors even more.
