Derailedby LouisComment: This was one of my favorites in the toy challenge. Great composition and perfect focus. About the only thing that I would have changed is perhaps geting beyond that building on the right hand side. Great capture! |

OUCH! Sharpby tngrndreamComment: You definitely have the right attitude to stay happy on this site. Shoot for YOU and no one else (unless it pays well). This one looks like a great idea that jsut wasn't executed well. I think with a better composition, your score would have jumped. The knife is positioned well, but the hand position really leads the viewer out of the frame. It leaves me looking for more. So, what is the bloody stuff you keep in the fridge? ;) |

are you done ?by DanSigComment: Great pose and terrific catch lights in this one. I think that a change of wardrobe would have enhanced this one a ton. Her shirt doesn't really stand out from the background. I'd also open up that aperature a bit to lose some of that bg info overall. |

Lost in the woods ages agoby timfythetooComment: I really have no idea why this one didn't finish better. Perhaps not enough happy color for the DPC masses. Nice composition and excellent lighting. Perhaps a closer crop and the elimination of the dead limbs low on the left would have polished it up a bit, but overall a very nice shot. |

Prickly new cactus budsby MelethiaComment: Well seen and well composed capture, but I think that your lighting is lacking just a hair. While the dark v. light works as a nice balance, I donlt think that the light is light enough or the dark is dark enough. I copied it and messed with it a hair in PS. I added a curves layer and added two points. The top point I set at I:181 O:199 and the bottom at I:70 O:56. It added a nice contrast to the shot, but that's just my opinion. |

The Old Barn and Iby nards656Comment: Pretty cool idea, but I think that the dark area of the capture was overwhelming. I think if you added a small amount of fill flash inside the barn to bring out just a bit of the old wood detail, you would have scored a bit higher. It also suffers with the size requirements that we are given. A larger version would also bring out some of the detail. |

Sands of Timeby TelehubbieComment: Very nicely done. The wind-blown sand leads the viewer's eye through the entire shot, sopping by each important element. The lighting is beautiful, wspecially with the highlight that separates the sand background from the sky. I'd really like to see the rest of the plant's shadow. While you have followed the rule fo thirds to a T, chopping off the shadow leaves me hanging just a little bit. Overall, and 8 in my little world of voting. |

Yashica Manby annahComment: Anna, this was one of the best shots in the challenge, in my little opinion. I feel the placing on the site next door was more fitting, The tonal range you have captured here is close to perfect. The exposure is super crisp and the composition is very well-done! I've looked this one over many times, and I can't find anything to correct. Very nice work! Message edited by author 2006-04-28 09:19:38. |
