Not my Faultby Yo_SpiffComment: I keep tilting my head to see what this looks like in a portrait orientation, and I think I like it upright a little more...but that's me. A nice simple take on the challenge. 6

From fish to mountains...by JudiComment: I like this but I keep wondering what this would look like in different light...not such mid-dayish light. I love that I can see into the water, that's really cool. 6

The Back Paddockby westfordComment: It's a pretty landscape...looks like a nice place for a walk, but I'm loosing interest quickly and I'm not sure why. I think I'm wishing for more land and less sky. 6

The Secrecy of Shadowsby instepsComment: It's bits of life under cover. It's all the awnings, tarps, jackets, dirt and darkness brought together in the sort of symphony of shape and mystery...it's so good. It is more quiet than your previous essay but I don't get lonely...alone-ness yes, but this comes from someone who loves being alone probably more often than most people. There is a comfort in darkness. It goes with the quiet. The shadows make me curious. The shadows make me wonder. Many of these images appeal to me on a abstract level also, these great collections of shape and form, light and shadow. It's strange, I can almost hear how quiet it is...maybe just the soft rustling of an awning, a hushed voice or a hurried step to punctuate the completeness of it. I also like the back and forth of being inside and outside, under then out in the open. |

Zama Zamaby ubiqueComment: I just like saying "ZAMA ZAMA". It's as if we could impart bits of hope each time it passes our lips. The Pepto pink pharmacy sticks in my head...who couldn't love a pizazzy pink place that might make us feel better. We all like clean cars, nice hair, food and sundries too. Interesting how some places look more inviting than others and some put a bit more effort into their signage too...Coke and God, God and Coke. Then there is something about the "use my phone" that seems so last ditch, if you don't need food maybe you need to talk to someone. It's a desperate afterthought...I want someone to go in there and use that phone. People need people to survive. This reminds me of that. |

_1--by 2mccsComment: I always find these sort of vernacular, typologies fascinating...and I'm not sure why. Or maybe fascination is wrong? Curious works. They make me curious. Does "fascination" convey "delight"? I don't know. Of course these images don't conjure delight in any sort of way, yet I don't find them depressing. They, as in the situations depicted, aren't happy either, they're just there. We pass them in a our cars with looks on our faces, secretly hoping we'll never have to know such ways of life. I have this sort of thing all around me. I can walk down the road not half a mile and take a picture of something just as bad, but instead of settings of barren dried earth it's lush green-ness and out of control vines that try to cover what shouldn't be put out there for all to see...Eden gone bad. Decadence and squalor always seem to occupy close quarters. I think it's the way of the world. It all still leaves me wondering though...what happened? What was that precise point of no return? Why is there so much garbage and why does no one pick it up?

I Walk the Lineby MeMex2Comment: It's almost like a landscape...stark, austere, remote. The scrape of sun adds the trace of warmth that pulls me in. |

Vasco by jdannelsComment: For me, the contrail makes this...it's so good without out it, but with it...so much better. It's the old and the new, merging worlds so to speak. Bumping to a 10. |
