organ grinderby jmritzComment: A conceptual take on it that works for me. For some reason I'm loving the graphic-ness and flow of that crosswalk...it's energy working in harmony with the hatted man and his stuff. You're good at this. 7 |

Monkey Businessby hahn23Comment: An artlessly flash lit shot of hanging stuffed animals will not win my heart. Some context and better light may have gotten you something higher than the 3 I'm giving this, because at least they are on subject. |

The Monkey-Wrench Gangby GeneralEComment: I just find it boring, and wanting to see more detail in the front most wrench from a technical POV. And surely you must know you're pushing the topic boundaries yes? I have to say the light on the back wrench is lovely though. Still I'm giving you a 3. |

Water softens the Metal Monkeyby AmmieComment: You are stubborn. But you made me look shit up...seriously, and I had fun. I found out I'm an Earth Monkey in the Chinese Zodiak. I like that! I don't know if that was your intention and I don't care one way or the other. Just for making me expand my knowledge today, I'm giving you a 6...nope, a 7. I like the title too...it's that title that made me learn something unexpected today. Technically, this could do with a tad more contrast maybe? No, I'm giving you an 8...some interesting conceptual work here the more I mull this over. |

2017 Year of the Roosterby P-A-U-LComment: Dang it, it's a grand shot of the bird, and an appealing shot all around, but I'm giving you a 4 for getting ahead of yourself. |

Golden Phoenixby KodakComment: Yes...Golden Phoenix and the Chinese Year of the Monkey...no, I don't see the tie at all. Some breathing room around the neon sign, some context even, would have made this a lot more interesting IMO. 3 |

One Golden Chrysanthemum - For Luck!by patchesComment: It is a thin tie, and I mean THIN tie to the theme...mums and their Asian lore and roots. It's a decent shot, to my eye maybe a little too smooth and oddly flat. 3 |

Chinese lanterns and shadows in the year of the monkeyby SistoComment: I really like the lantern's glow and the ink monkey. IMO this would have been more interesting without the little plastic toy and a more artful composition/arrangement maybe? I'm still on the line about a different DOF. This still life is due some more experimentation. I'm going to bump to a 6 from a 4. |

Gung Hay Fat Choyby sfaliceComment: It's Chinese, I'll give you that but it seem overprocessed to me...colorful but flat in a bad way. 4 |

Monkey foodby hajekaComment: You're pushing it. I would have at least cloned/healing out the peanut shrapnel on the glass surface. The light is nice, I'll give you that, but the comp is lazy too. 3 because you know this is pushing the challenge theme and good light will only get you so far. |
