Sunflower Wishes

Thanks for your lumy nomination. My Sunflower Wishes image has a story. Every year, Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, CT. grows 10-15 acres of sunflowers. For one week in July, they have a fundraiser called Sunflowers For Wishes. They sell bouquets of the sunflowers (my image is a bunch of bouquets ready for sale) and send all proceeds to the Make A Wish Foundation. The foundation grants final wishes for terminally ill children. Last year they raised over $75,000. This year they will most likely top that because they were highlighted in a national magazine, Yankee. I have never seen so many sunflowers, so I had to enter it. Thanks again for the nomination.

The shot overall seems uninteresting for a landscape. Might work better in a pattern challenge. Also, the clutter I find unsettling.

I think you might have left too much uninteresting sky in for the nature of the photo. The sunflowers are much more interesting, but being so low and with camera flare, it takes a great deal away from what could have been a great photo. Try a polarizer or nd filter to cut out the flare and to create a better sky.

I know you were trying to get a primeval look to the image, sort of like the original King Kong. I like the affect. Nice light and contrast. Wish I could see it three times as big. It is probably truly extraordinary.

Nice composition. Seems a bit overprocessed, though. The blue way too saturated for my tastes, and the land area in the foreground is really broken up. Still, I am sure with that rainbow it was an idyllic image to view when you were there.

I am sure this was a hard shot to get. Anyway, the colors seem too blue for some reason, and there is a great deal of pixelization, as if you might have had a much smaller image and tried to enlarge it. Nice perspective, though. Perhaps a zoom lens, or maybe a closer vantage would have given a higher quality image.
