I like the geometry. My only suggestion would be to crop out the band of light and dark at the top, but that's just me.

As to the voters, your guess is as good as mine. I wonder if more color in the sky would have helped -- one of those Kodachrome sunsets that we get in December and January?

P.S. You were lucky to get some sun at all -- seems like the marine layer has been parked over us for as long as I can remember. 8)
