Maybe not enough "beginning" without the title! like the composition, except for the lamp under the arch - was there a way to frame this so that you caught the light without the bulb in frame?

Maybe not enough "beginning" without the title, though - more of an "end"! Hope that this is a specimen, not a victim. shallow DoF, focus on a particular area of the skull and gentler lighting might have added some more depth.

Striking! Maybe not enough "beginning" , and a very shallow DoF without a strong focus point - not clear exactly what is intended. And some distracting reflections in the eyeball!

buds a common theme, but an appropriate one. Maybe not the prettiest bud I have ever seen, and DoF is a little too shallow - could do with more clarity in the whole frame. Maybe try getting in a little closer, changing angles, maybe add another light to experiment?

great technique. Maybe not enough "beginning" without the title, though - death and beginnings not being happy bedfellows!

like the idea - maybe needs more contrast in the pages to become effective, though.

seems a bit blurry - maybe try a bit more sharpening?

Interesting story - but the interest largely comes from the words, not the image as a whole. Horizon is slanting. Background is distracting (too much detail behind trees)

I think that this is a good use of the US flag symbolism - I have said on some other images using the flag that "Without wishing to offend, the patriotic call implicit in the flag may switch off some non-US voters - very slightly cheapens the image for me as it feels as though the symbol is being used to evoke an emotive response that the picture would not otherwise demand." Here, I think that you have managed to combine it with a little more dignity and relevance than most.

However, I am not a fan of the selective desat - too much white here for a full desat to work, I think. Maybe a muted tone would have worked better?

technically very good use of desat - normally a turn off for me when this bold, but this is better than most. Maybe losing a little too much detail in the top of frame.
