Playground Fun and Shadeby dartompkinsComment: Technically, this is a sound image. Its in focus, the lighting is okay, composition okay. But I honeslty don't see wood as an important component in this image. 4 |

GateKeeperby ph223048Comment: The technique used here is interesting but I'm not sure of its use in this image. Why is the person only 'kind of' there? Does the use of this effect add anything to the composition? Creative, yes, I will give you that! Technically, this image needs some help. The bit of frame at the top should have been cropped out, the image should have been rotated to straight (slight tilt doesn't add anything in my opinion). So, my score for this image is a 4 - you got a plus 1 for creativity but a minus 2 for technicals. |

Tree Huggin Hippyby totaldisComment: Honestly, while the texture of this tree bark is interesting, as an image it leaves me flat. This image shows wood but doesn't go far beyond that. To score well in challenges one needs to go beyond the first thought, such as 'tree,' to the fifth or sixth thought. Imagewise, the focus is a little soft for the subject and the composition doesn't add anything to the image. 3 |

Lonely Park Benchby deapeeComment: One of the criteria for this challenge is "Creativity is the Key" so my scoring will be based on this. this image has an almost painted look. I love the inclusion of the tree branch to balance out the cloud. The tones are rendered well. POV, DOF, composition, focus all done well. A lot of empty sky but I don't think it hurts the image. 8 - good luck in the challenge! |

Silenceby PippiComment: One of the criteria for this challenge is "Creativity is the Key" so my scoring will be based on this. Very interesting image. Love the subtle use of color. The composition is strange but not distractingly so (I'm not sure why this image was made). The focus is dead on and the lighting is excellent. I'm repeatedly drawn to the arm, maybe that's where the horn was? of the record player - its smoothness and tone pulls my eye. Well done! 8 - good luck in the challenge! |

2x4by fifieldComment: One of the criteria for this challenge is "Creativity is the Key" so my scoring will be based on this. While there are other pieces of wood in this challenge, the lighting in this one sets it above the rest. I like the tones used, the DOF and POV are great and the focus is good for the image. The subject itself really doesn't thrill me, but I could see this hanging on the wall of a carpenter or weekend warrior type. 8 - Good luck in the challenge! |

Over A Barrelby kongphooeyComment: One of the criteria for this challenge is "Creativity is the Key" so my scoring will be based on this. I like the various textures in this. I like that it was not shot head on but slightly off to the right. Could have cropped a little off the bottom - the green of the grass doesn't do much for me. Like the competing shapes, that the darkness of the window is balanced by the extra number of barrels. I think the lighting is good for the subject. Not thrilled about the top but not sure it should be cut off - think something would be lost if it was. very well done. 7 - good luck in the challenge! |

Beach Hutsby james_soComment: One of the criteria for this challenge is "Creativity is the Key" so my scoring will be based on this. Love the colorful nature of this image. Not too hot on the stone wall but you take what you can get. The buildings look like they curve - not sure if thats true but if its not, I probably would have gotten closer to the the left to show a little more perspective. I believe this image is one of the more creative ones in the challenge. The focus is good, POV okay, DOF well done, lighting okay. 7 - good luck in the challenge! |

Old Stairby russiComment: In this challenge, "Creativity is the Key" is what I am using to score images. I really like this image. The twist in the stair (composition) and lighting are what make it work for me. I like that the stairs get lighter as they rise - they are leading me somewhere and the urge is to follow. The tones work well. You might be able to crop just a little bit on the left - the dark tones and flatness of that piece/wall are like an impediment to climbing the stairs. Make sense? Not take it all the way out but just limit it a little more. 8 - good luck in the challenge! |

Stairs You Don't Want To Climbby tsheetsComment: In this challenge, "Creativity is the Key" is what I am using to score images. Not too thrilled about the title but I love the image. The tilt on the right is a little distracting but it is due to a ground level POV - we take what we can. I really like the tones - many might complain it is too dark but I think that is what works for me. The reflections in the glass add movement to what otherwise might be static. Crop is a little tight for my tastes but overall, well done and creative! 7 - good luck in the challenge! |
