Passing Byby TiberiusComment: Amazing, perfect timing. I wonder how long you waited for this scene, how long it took to find the right business people in a hurry, to get them in the perfect position, how you found the woman and the boy so intent the world passed them by as if statues. I like that you left the litter, that you used duotones, that you centered it perfectly and now the photographer is part of the scene. Balance and imbalance. Perfect. 10 |

Stark Refectionsby JEFFJSBComment: For me, what makes this image a 10 is the sign. I'll bet you get comments telling you you should have cloned it out. If you do, I disagree. This lonely island, in the middle of nowhere had a person think it was important enough to put up a sign. As a viewer, I can imagine this sign says anything and that adds so much to the image. Right now I'm in a humorous mood so the sign says, "No Swimming." I love that there is just enough reflection to show me water. And the reflection shows how the tree could have grown (the reflection is straight). I love the 'bentness' of the tree - it grew in its own funny way even though there was seemingly no reason for it to do that, nothing impeding its growth straight up. And its leaning towards the sign, as if for comfort. Okay, I'm odd. Profound is the word I keep coming up with. I have been trying to create images that are poems. This is one. |

Man with mustache reflected in a full-sized bed sheetby posthumousComment: my first reaction when this popped up, "Oh My God." Yes, out loud even. This is it. This is the one. Can't explain it. And then I got to the title. Its the only one that would work! In a Frank OHara, "Oranges" kind of way this is IT. Thank you! |

The Cellistby posthumousComment: works for me. I'm kinda wishing I didn't see his/her eye. No clue why. But I love the meaning and metaphor it holds for me. |

Halfway there.by PatmaniaComment: I like this image. Its real life the way it really is. Real. This is something I've never seen before, particularly from this angle. Had I voted in this challenge, it would have gotten at least a 7. I've seen enough neat imaged, saturated pretty girls and landscapes on this site to do me for a lifetime. I want raw and real. For those of you that find it unappealing, well, much of life is that way. The composition is excellent, the DOF works for the image (and situation), the toning also works well for the subject. Well done! |
