There was no doubt you had the Blue on this shot. It perfectly represents the challenge with an intriguing pattern. Great find!

Loved hearing your story of trial and error and your perseverence in getting a result you were happy with. It̢۪s a beautiful result. Sometimes we end up with something different than what was imagined that actually turns up better! I like your outtakes as well. Congrats on HM.

oh .. just scrolled down to post and noticed Lev's comment .. lol .. ;)

Thanks for the very kind comment Roz. To answer your question on this particular shot I used my 100-400 1:4.5-5.6 IS II lens, shutter speed 1/1000, f/8, ISO 1000. It was sunny out so I underexposed the shot to bring out the color in the neck without making them appear overly bright and adjusted in photoshop. I having been observing and shooting the hummers for several years now and no one shot is the same as far as camera settings are concerned. It depends on the time of the season, the weather conditions, the location of the shot, distance to the subject, background, and the personality of the particular hummer I am shooting! I observe them for quite a while before I shoot to learn their particular flight patterns and habits.

Well done at a slight angle to show the important elements of the tree. It makes it interesting. The use of B&W also helps to express your intentions.

I like that your perspective is in focus from bottom to top. Nicely done.

I would have loved to photograph this scene. There is so much to see and many potential viewpoints. I get the opportunity to go out and shoot with my son on occasion. We often times will be taking a picture of the same scene but he sees it differently than I do. I love to see his interpretation. I like the way you have used your title to explain your purpose.

I really like the scene as you have composed it as a panorama. The tree is amazing and I like the idea you have presented. I can̢۪t help but think this was taken with a cellphone as it is slightly out of focus and maybe a little too strong on the saturation. Should do well though on the overall.
