It honestly doesn't look like the motion was the problem (for the most part)... it looks to me that the background is what the camera was focused on.

Nice job getting right up close! Night games are tricky, unless you have one heck of a nice lens. The contrast seems just a teeny bit much here, and there might be a tad bit too much yellow, but overall you pulled it off nicely.

Good job of getting in close! Overall I like this shot a lot, but I have a couple suggestions. I might have cropped JUST the runner, eliminating much of the rest of the image. It's not always easy to accomplish, but this would have been better with a shallower depth of field -- as it is, the spectators are in good enough focus that they really compete for attention with the subject.

Well done! You caught a good moment, no doubt! I'm sure plenty of people are whining about the fact that the runner's foot isn't entirely in the shot, but I don't find that to be much of a big deal.
