NatURaL BorN KiLLerSby ChinabunComment: Most negatives of people are "ehhh", but this one actually worked quite well. I didn't even feel tempted to turn it to a positive "to see what it really looks like" because it worked just fine as a negative to me. I like the texture used behind the subject and really like the reflection in the glasses. Nice shot - should have scored higher, especially since the 6's outnumbered the 5's. |

Macro on a Budgetby aimeethetooComment: I'd say this is a darn bit better than the brown. Very creative and indeed very humorous. Well done and congrats on the high placement! |

Two worlds - One bus stopby timfythetooComment: Trading Post comment
I gave this a 6, though unless you consider the one looks a bit more eccentric than the other, I don't see the "two worlds". They both look like they probably have a bit in common actually. But that's neither here nor there. The picture works - it gets your attention and keeps it for a bit as you check out the scene. I like the outtake you posted, too, with just the bearded guy, his apple, and umbrella. Good captures! |

IMG_6726.JPGby ApertureComment: Composition is very pleasing and balanced (other than a very slight tilt in the horizon) but the colors are way off. |

Secret WWII-Era Prison Discoveredby chaliceComment: Trading Post comment
The thing I like alot about this picture is the perspective and the angles created. It's still a bit too dark for my taste, though it does invite the viewer to look more carefully to see what's there. As I said during voting, I do think this would be a good picture to accompany a magazine article but with a bit more light to pull out the texture and detail of the walls. |

Careful, I spitby KelliComment: Trading Post comment
I'm not all that fond of the perspective though it does emphasize the point you make with the title. I think the overall tone of the shot could be helped a bit by de-brightening it, either through curves or maybe contrast? It does make you smile, though! |

Kook sets fire to Coney Islandby KelliComment: Trading Post comment
This I liked. Colors are vibrant, picture tells a story. About the only nit (and I have to say that I didn't even notice it while voting) is that his face is a bit overexposed. Loved where you caught him with respect to the canvas behind him. Quite a fun picture! |

No place to lie his weary head, but $5 richer this day.by ericwooComment: Trading Post comment
The thing I noticed first about this picture was his expression; the second thing I noticed was his socks. I'm not sure if this was what people were looking for in this challenge, but it's a good "street candid" of an interesting character. I'm not sure about the golden tones - don't dislike it that way, but I think I may have preferred it in pure B&W. |

While it's only an "average" subject, the lighting here is great! You've done an excellent job lighting the subject, maintaining excellent detail which is even more impressive given the object is black and chrome, and even creating a "texture" to the light beneath the subject. I suspect the not-so-great score is based on limited appeal of the subject matter. What you've done with the lighting, though, can be transferred to lots of other shots, and that's a very good thing! |
