Profiles of Purpleby KelliComment: Trading Post comment
The composition here works for me, even though some may say left to right is more appropriate - I'm kinda fond of right to left. I especially like just the touch of yellow along with the proliferation of purples. I suspect what really hurt your score was the lack of focus on the flowers and the underexposure of the ones closest to the viewer. |

Nice score, and an addition to your top row on your profile page, no less! It's bold, bright, simple and has a nice strong diagonal. I don't really notice the blurriness you mention all that much; the texture of the wood is nice against the smoothness of the color and I suppose a bit more sharpening might have helped. I suspect it would have done better had the orange been more "orange" - it looks a little reddish on my monitor. |

I don't get why folks couldn't figure out how this was done without requesting validation, but take comfort in the knowledge it wasn't just yours - seems everyone who did something like this had "validated" on their entry. Extra point for the clever title and overall creativity.
I did the "invert" thing on this during the challenge voting and would have preferred it in more natural tones. I realize you probably did the saturation thing to give it more "spark", though. I suspect a less cluttered background might have helped a bit too. Overall, I like the concept behind the picture, and you pulled it off pretty well. |

Good score on this one. My favorite thing about the picture is the composition - I really like the diagonal formed and the shape of the flowers. The colors are good - rich and bright - but maybe a bit too saturated. The blown bits take away from the overall impression, though. I also like the perspective you chose, looking up a bit, but wish the "open" space on the right was smaller or not as bright. |

Protecting the Castleby MarjoComment: Colors are good and it's an interesting composition, but the subject appears to be out of focus. |
