Homer Simpson still life? This is a nice humorous take on a still life - scored pretty well, too - you've just gotten spoiled lately, and well, there's that having the wife get the blue ribbon and all... :-) I like the concept a lot, like the use of a continuous background - even like that it's purple, which seems to work for some reason. I do think it needs to be either a tighter crop, or have more room to the right and the top. Very cool idea - nice execution - and the score ain't bad either.

This is a very novel approach on a still life - I like the choice of a differet angle! I like the orange tones balanced by the slight green of the block windows, and the two X's formed by the utensils balanced by the O's of the pan and steamer. A well-thought out design. I think I'd have preferred it arranged such that you didn't have the window frame on the left - it's nicely disguised on the right.

I didn't enter or vote in this challenge; without looking at your comments, I'm betting you got hit with a lot of DNMC with respect to it not being a viewer's idea of a still life. I see it more as a picture of flowers. In that respect, I like the angle you chose, but am not as fond of the overall composition - I can't really put my finger on it, but I think it needs either a lot less or a lot more sky. I like the subtle gradation of the sky. You may want to try to bring that out a bit more.

Top 10! Very nice finish. I rather like the sifter - in fact, that makes the image for me. A nice, tight composition with an interesting color scheme; lighting is excellent for this shot. I'm pleased to see this did well even though it's not flowers or fruit. Good job, and congrats on the excellent finish!

LOL! This is hilarious! I didn't vote in this challenge so I didn't see this until just now. A great idea, though I suspect a lot of people didn't see it as a "still life". What probably let you down in the scoring was a combination of the white background/backdrop, and the clarity of the cans. Though it would require a pretty good sized piece of posterboard or paper, that might have worked better in this case than fabric. Very, very creative!

Nicely done in my opinion - the colors are very vivid but still very real. Definitely added depth and richness to the original!

I like the way you chose to angle this shot so the one three blocks the one building face - works quite effectively!
