Hot Handby timfythetooComment: Trading Post comment
First of all, I'm amazed you didn't burn yourself. You do know you're certifiable, right? I think this was a pretty good execution of your idea. I realize since you were behind the viewfinder holding your hand out front, you couldn't much change the angle, but I think had you had the hand turned more so that the flame was between the thumb and first finger for the viewer, it might have been more effective. Though I don't know why I think that. The only other nit - flame doesn't seem to be as crisply focused as it could be.

Hot Footin' Itby chaliceComment: Trading Post comment
Heh - it wasn't a dumb idea, other than you really shouldn't burn your foot for the sake of a challenge entry - and it did meet the challenge, plus the title was really quite good... But the blurred foot with the post-processed toenails just was a bit too weird-looking in the end. Just try to do something a wee bit less dangerous for the next one, OK? :-) |

Bringin' the Heat by jenesisComment: The thing that makes this really cool is the retained detail in the ball itself. Nicely done and congrats! |

Blue Heatby SandyPComment: Way underrated in my opinion. This is great composition-wise, perfect crispness and clarity. I suppose some folks don't realize "heat" can indeed be "blue". Great shot, and I love the guy's welding mask. This is one that takes more than the usual 2 seconds viewing time to truly appreciate! |

Texas Heatby bgslawComment: Brenda - I love this idea! Perfect arrangement of the peppers, and those of us in Texas can truly appreciate it! It is a little flat, meaning it needs a bit more light/contrast. It may have been a little underexposed when you took it, but you should be able to "pep" it up a bit in post processing. Try posting in the forums and I'm sure people can help you more than I can in things you can try. It's all a good learning experience here. |

The Burning Sunby GIS_boyComment: How do you get the sun without the glare? Very well done - one of my top five for this challenge. Love the colors! If you're willing, could you add comments and maybe post the original?
Edit to add my thanks for sharing the info and the original! Message edited by author 2006-05-29 07:47:13. |

First Heat Raceby TransitComment: Holy cow - what a set up! I was wondering how you did this. This was far and above my top pick for the challenge for the sheer audacity of it. And you did it really, really well. Hopefully you don't want to use those wheels anymore... VERY nice shot! |

in flagrante de duckoby Pug-HComment: OMG, this is priceless! I love this shot! First, the photographic comments - it's clean, well lit, nicely balanced light-wise (good choice using tungsten) and nicely balanced compositionally, too. I even like the pale yellow border that echoes the line/moulding of the tub wall. Second - the self-portrait part - this tells me that you have one heckuva sense of humor and a sense of just plain fun! Awesome job, David! |
