No One Lives Here Anymoreby obsidianComment: I remember this one from the challenge. To me it's a bit overbright or oversharp or maybe both. It does look a bit like they (I trust it's a bird house) have fallen behind on the upkeep, doesn't it? Hopefully they'll be back next spring. |

Slow Invader of the Green Spaceby obsidianComment: Composition for this one is good - I like the snail's position in the frame and the leading line of the blade its on. The blades that cross behind it add another element which balances the picture well. You could cut just a bit off the top if you want, but I like the overall vertical presentation. I do think it's a touch overexposed, as you've lost some detail on the snail's shell. Isn't fun to find stuff like this while wandering a bit off the beaten path? |

One year later - "Why is daddy still gone?"by timfythetooComment: Trading Post comment
I think you executed this very well. The technicals are extremely good - lots of stuff I'd never think of to do to a picture, and it all hangs together well and doesn't look processed (that's the trick, I think.) My favorite part of the composition is not the watch, it's your wife's foot for some odd reason. I like the slight lighter section of the headstone near the boy's head, too. All told, this should well have been a 6 score, but I suspect the "does not meet challenge" came into play here. Maybe more "grief" or "sadness" than "desolation". On an unrelated to score note, I do wonder about setting up children for shots like this - isn't that a bit weird? Hopefully he understands it's just because his daddy has this obsession... :-) (Sue me, I can't type or spell...) Message edited by author 2006-06-26 21:07:38. |

Father of the brideby timfythetooComment: This, my dear, is simply a wonderful picture. The desat treatment works well, but the key here is simply the timing - the capture of their faces at this moment. Very well done, and worth way more than a steenkin' ribbon or average score. |

End of the worldby KelliComment: Trading Post comment
This feels very desolate! Definitely works well in B&W. The color version is kinda cool, too, but this is definitely more suited to the challenge. I like overall composition - can't see anything I'd change on it. Technically I suppose some might want it a bit sharper, but I like it soft - gives it a dreary feel, which is pretty much what I think you were after. Really should have scored higher. |

wild flowersby KelliComment: Very good composition and color in this! Definitely has the "pop" factor - well seen! |
