Girl & Squirrel

Greetings from the Critique Club

Girls and squirrels generally aren't "related" in my world, so I thought this met the challenge quite nicely. It's an interesing photograph that shows a nice, warm moment. While they may not be "related", they seem to be relating to each other nicely. Good focus, excellent color - particularly her jacket and her hair. Seems to be well-exposed, too. (And nifty fingernail decoration as well.)

How to make it better for the DPC-world? Shoot it in a studio with a solid black background and have more of the girl's face in the picture. :-) No, seriously, it probably should have scored a bit higher than it did, but was also probably viewed as a "snapshot". Snapshots for some reason are not held in high regard at DPC, regardless of the quality of the shot.

As far as composition, it does seem to be a bit cramped on the right side - I suspect this is the way the shot was framed and there's nothing more on the right to include here. To crop more off the top or bottom would lose either her or the squirrel's hair and to include more on the left would add to the cramped feeling.

Day 7: It went under the fridge

This really shows off her markings very well. And I can remember one time when we moved there were about 30 or so of those plastic rings that come off of milk jugs under the fridge.

Day 4: Drunk Vision

The eye and the dog's nose/tongue are what make the image for me. The rest all seems to go together nicely, oddly enough. Leaf is really qite nice (lower right side) and I'm fond of the watch. Nifty idea, very well executed. Great depth in all the shots. What did you use to put it all together?

Venetian Doorway

Initially the angle is a bit disconcerting, but not in a bad way. Then as one wanders into the picture, even more disconcerting (again not in a bad way) is the fact the door seems to open into a wall with more doors/windows. One begins to wonder if it's a brightly lit nightmare. And somehow, some way, the white step in the front is beckoning the viewer to enter, nightmare or not.

Colors are great, particularly the green of the door and the bricks. Very intriguing shot!
