While this would have been gorgeous in B&W as well, I think the gold treatment is perfect - very appropriate given your comments and the subject. And I'm really glad you got such a great shot of your dad, too. It's an invaluable gift you'll always cherish, I'm quite sure. Slow mo train shots are a blast. You may want to try a series with a bit faster shutter speed if possible - get more detail in the train. Also cool is to shoot one going by people as they stand there. The series might look kinda nifty in black and white, too - have you tried that?

Beautiful light and a nicely composed shot to capture it. Editing is just fine - not over the top at all. And I didn't even notice the car until you pointed it out, so it's really mostly apparent to you because you know it's there. It fits into the scene just fine.
