Hotel California (Again)by GermaineComment: Well heck, this is potentially SO sweet! I'd like to hear exactly how you PP'd it, and perhaps see the original; I might have some suggestions on how to perfect it. I presume you have noticed the slight, but distracting, haloing around the building and the central palm tree?
Where is this, btw? I'm a SoCal native, relocated to Cape Cod upon retirement, and I'm sure I've seen this before. I'm thinking Santa Barbara?
And are you really older than me? Pleased to meetcha, in that case; I feel like such a dinosaur in DPC... Message edited by author 2006-11-30 23:00:26. |

September 7, 1969 - Monty Python's Flying Circus' First Broadcast on BBCby xianartComment: Christian,
I just came back to this by a roundabout route, and I wanted to say I love it even more now than I did when I first saw it. I echo what everyone's saying: what bravery! What joi de vivre! I think it should have finished in the top 10 for sure, but that really doesn't matter, does it?
Just a belated "well done!" to you :-) |

Open Linesby KaDiComment: You know, it's unbelievable how anal the voters are sometimes, especially about noise. This image just leapt out of the thumbnails at me, and I wasn't disappointed when I opened it up. The composition is complex and memorable. The disappearing birds-in-flight, so precisely limited to the left edge, are fantastic in how they foreshadow/echo at the same time the birds at rest.
And this lovely thing couldn't even score a 5? Even if you ACCEPT that the noise is a flaw, surely the value of the rest of it is manifest and it deserves a 6'ish score? Sigh... |

North Pillarby MatthewComment: Strange shot indeed; the way the intricate, logical bracing and trussing of the tower devolves into near-chaos from this angle is oddly compelling. Congrats on top 10! |

Vertigo Cityby yankoComment: Nice work, Yanko! If you'd asked me, I'd have thought it would bomb as well; so what do we know? Not much! Congrats on top 10. |

Ancient Rock Window to the Milky Wayby PlanetMakerComment: This image certainly suits your name to a "T" :-) If you asked me to select the best image of "planet making" from the DPC archives, this might be it... I'd love to hear some details of how this was done, specifically the lighting. |

Beachy Head by marboComment: Fantastic! A primo example of how the little things mean so much; imagine the image without the people on the bluff... Scale (or perspective) is everything here! Congrats on your ribbon. |
