There's a certain, in-your-face austerity to this that appeals... I got to ask though: "Is it really KOSHER to "add blur" to a Lensbaby shot in post?" I mean, the whole aesthetic of LB is to creatively manipulate the blur while shooting, right? Not that I really *care*, mind you, I am not *criticizing*, you just got my head off on this weird little trip :-)

Haha! I'm not sure how much I actually "like" it, it seems rather contrived in this instance, but I give you high chops for conceptualizing and accomplishing, which is how discovery is effected in the end, right? I feel downright pedestrian by contrast.

That's a very interesting treatment. Lensbaby would seem to be ideal for "design" photographs (I'm certainly going to try it later) though few here, thus far, are using it that way. Mostly we are making highly "emotive" images instead.

This is entirely artificial-looking, it doesn't have the organic, unscripted flow of a Lensbaby. Was it even SHOT with a lensbaby? I know the radial blur is added, but whatw as the image shot with?

Now, you can help me here, starting from the bottom left there is a half circle of 'swirl' leading up to the top left, I was under the impression that this ring comes from an out of focus sweet spot, so a) is that true? and b) was it intentional? I have the ring on lots of my shots but rarely on purpose but do like the effect.

That's what I think is happening too. I have no hard data to back that up, but it seems that the more OOF the image is the more pronounced the swirl is. Most of my shots don't have a real, in-focus sweet spot. And that's intentional, actually. Same thing with the "swirl": I'm not sure exactly *why* it is happening, but it is exaggerated with extreme tilt and I am aware of it when composing/focusing, and am using it intentionally.

I had some that are the same general idea, though my shells are bigger and my image is a lot less sharp. But, honey, shells ain't sand, now, are they? Not even pieces of shells, nor little itty bitty stones for that matter. The one I did enter is getting 4.5-hammered, sigh. You?
