You know, the original source image for this one was a surprisingly good shot for a brown ribbon... You're working witht he same elements for sure, using them in a somewhat different way, but you're definitely meeting the challenge.

As far as execution goes, ultimately this image doesn't satisfy me very much, it feels sort of flat, not anywhere near as lively as I'd expect it to be given the elements you're using. The original, on the other hand, for all it's technical imperfections, had a lot of movement and power to it. So for me, while this is technically well done in the sense that it's *freezing* stuff well, it's not really an improvement over the original.

Still, you addressed the challenge directly and you showed good skills. 5 from me.

Alright. Sugar cube, spoon, check. Missing the other cubes of course but so what? Raises interesting questions as to what the heck was meant by the original title, but again that's not our problem. Nice image, totally meets the challenge.

7 for now.

Okay, THIS one is doing the job! This is taking the original concept and remaining entirely faithful to it while creating a dramatically better image. This is VERY nicely made and it spot-on meets the challenge. I have only voted 4 so far, but I'm wondering how many entries will accomplish both things: excellent image, and genuine attempt to rework the original theme.

A 9 for now, and it's not inconceivable it will end up as a 10.

The original here was an abstract, intentionally-blurred shot that was supposed to look like a beach although it was actually a bottle.

You have improved on the original in the sense that this is a better yellow for a "yellow" challenge and in the sense that your image is sharper and has a more dynamic composition.

It's decently made but, in my estimation, doesn't qualify as a reworking of the original in that it shares nothing except the yellow theme. Accordingly, a 5 for now from me, though I may re-evaluate depending on what I see as I go deeper into the challenge.

Distinctly an improvement on the original in terms of pure technique and composition, yes. But you know what? I look at the original and I actually *do* want to live in it; for all its imperfections that's a warm and inviting image.

This one, on the other hand, is cold and austere and doesn't even speak "house" to me; it speaks apartment, urban, conformity.

I think the image is well made, but only in the technical sense is it an improvement over the original for me.

It's my first vote in the challenge, and I am giving you a 6 for now. If I see a LOT of images that are "more faithful" to the intent of the original, I might rethink the 6 but I doubt that will happen.

Since this is my first comment, let me be clear on this: at least starting out in my voting, I am gonna try to see if it's even rational to vote this challenge based on doing a better job not only technically, but more importantly emotionally, in the sense of trying to better convey what the maker of the original was trying to convey.

Thanks for listening :-)

This absolutely *reeks* of Ernest Hemingway. If it were in a book of Hemingway portraits, nobody would question it. Marvelous shot.

This is absolutely terrific, as an image in its own right. So well-composed, so crisp, so perfectly aligned.

Outstanding! What really makes this image is the corner of the corner of the truss perfectly defined in her armpit.
