Upon His Kingdomby heavyjComment: It's a pleasure to see a lion picture, a big cat picture, that moves beyond cliché by virtue of its startlingly different angle. A lion profile, indeed! :-) Well done, and a 8 on bump day from me. |

Eye in the Skyby pointandshootComment: Outstanding! The tangency of moon & hawk is remarkable. I'm sure you're getting hammered for "noise" but I don't care; I like it, in this image. Well seen! 7 from me. |

Watering tobaccoby fridjoComment: Much stronger on second pass than first, for me. A lovely effect, great control of DOF, real old-timey feel to the light & color. 8 from me. |

Lord of the ringsby WindtaleComment: Well, I can see LOTR for sure, but you know what else? If it weren't for the anti-Christian backlash that would ensue, I'd have called this "Moses on Mt. Sinai" or something :-) Really nicely done. I hope you have the backstory in your photographer's comments section. 8 |

Chaise Pet.by Dan_CottleComment: This is completely compelling, LOL. I gave it a 7 passing by the first time, but I'm sending it to 9 on the bump round. What a composition! Well done! |

Look What the Tide Brought Inby MarcelLainezComment: This is quite exquisite, the way the baby's been turned into a living cameo by the oval basket/blanket surround. The processing is terrific, and the dead-centered composition works well in this case. Major bump here, because it feels quite original and it's more or less perfectly done on its own terms. Up to a 9 you go! |

Breaking Storm - Death Valley, February 2009by photomComment: I got a love/hate thing going on this image. At many levels it's stunning, but the colors seem seriously "off" to me. I imagine they're what you *wanted*, but it just seems to ocherey (I know that ain't a word) to my eye. Still, extraordinary capture, well seen, and a 7 from me. |

Waiting For My Trainby MarcusArmaniComment: Love the way the owl is "floating" there, and of course am just utterly bemused by the incongruity of an owl on a railroad track :-) Almost wish you'd titled it "My Trained Owl" :-) 7 from me. |

dis'con·nec'tionby SeanachaiComment: IN many ways this is utterly fascinating; I find myself studying each of the "characters" for clues as to their identity/business/state of mind. It bothers me that the prominent wall junction is not squared up a little better, easy enough to do with a little skew tool. But the deal-breaker, for me, is that the image seems seriously oversharpened, and I'm picking up fine halo-type outlining of the figures against the neutral walls. That's holding it back from climbing into the 8's, and it will stay at 7 in my scoring.
Nevertheless, well seen and a pleasure to contemplate. |
