EXACTLY what I was thinking when it swam under the drone as I was heading back to base just under the fog :-) I'm glad you got that out of the shot :-) |

Aloes with a viewby ThingFishComment: Voted earlier, returning to comment. This is a well-constructed image from a technical perspective and it's pleasing enough to look at, but in the end I can't feel a lot of love for it. This is partly because the image is very "flat" from a lighting perspective, which is of course unavoidable given the overcast sky, but it's not the best way to create a free-study image that will compete well against all the striking images that get entered. Arguably, if you'd processed more weight into the sky and did a radial vignette to subtly darken the image as we move away from the aloe plant you'd pick up a better score. In any case, I gave it a 6 and would expect it to finish in the 5.7-6.0 range. |

The Law Student by NeatComment: Wonderful image, very Rockwellian. IMO way too much white at the top, but I suppose you have to leave room for the "Saturday Evening Post" :-) |

Gesture (a dog's reach should exceed its grasp) by Bear_MusicComment: Originally posted by streetpigeon: Congratulations on winning the yellow. This is one of the images I "favorited," and I'm so looking forward to seeing your new drone photos. A whole new world beckons! |
You bet it does! Only when MarkWiley kindly sent his drone to me for an exploratory spin did I realize how burned out I had gotten with photography-from-eye-level over all these years. And to make things worse, it's very difficult for me to kneel or lie down on the ground now, or at least to get up from same :-) So within 24 hours of the loan I was hooked and had ordered my very own drone.
It's a complete revelation, such an interesting "new" way to see & explore! Message edited by author 2020-07-13 17:29:49. |

barrowby NiallOTuamaComment: There's not a better shot in this challenge as far as mood goes; so foreboding and ominous. Best in show for me. 10 |

Cadillac Ranchby Yo_SpiffComment: Hah! We photographed Cadillac Ranch for Ant Farm when it was first installed. We did their Media Burn too, at the Cow Place :-) |
