It's hard to keep my eyes off the arms-akimbo manspreader in the blue shirt and the dark fedora. Given the overall context, that's quite amazing. But when I let my eye wander, I see a lot of "particular instants"; lovers kissing and entwining, a child with a scooter perching like something primitive or primeval, all sorts of interesting, if not arresting, moments. I appreciate the journey.

Here's the thing of it: at the most "literary" level, we have darkness beneath and light above, we have a passage of some sort, we have the dog, we have to start thinking Cerberus, don't we? But that doesn't satisfy me, I think that's my intellect imposing order on something wholly other than that. I'm quite taken by the sparkles of light in the dark. The leaf speaks to the passage of things. The dog is the dog. I think that's enough.
