I'd love to know what your shutter speed was. Whatever it was, it wasn't enough to catch that cute tail! :D Just kidding. I think that tail blur brings this photo alive for the viewer. Without the blur it would be a cute shot. With the blur it makes you smile. Nicely seen and captured. The B/W treatment was a good choice as well. Good luck in the challenge.

I get the impression you were going for a spotlight effect? That would probably work well with this subject, but the lighting you used seems a little harsh, perhaps if you diffused it some...? Another thing to consider is the ISO setting on your camera. There is a lot of noise in this photo when really there shouldn't be for this kind of setup. JMO of course. :D The subject you picked has potential as this pair of shoes has character. A little more attention to detail and your score would probably climb on this considerably. Anyway...best of luck to you in the challenge.

Ok. Now I've seen my fair share of matchsticks, smoke, multiple flame shots in this challenge. I have to say that this is the most enticing thus far, of course I still have 100+ to go yet. :D I really like the way you composed this and the exposure and use of light on the smoke is outstanding. Nicely done.

I like the feel of this. Nicely composed and well balanced. You handled the extreme lighting quite well and it adds to the image in a positive manner. Too bad about the namebrand showing on one of them as this would make a decent stock shot (guess you could clone the logo out). Good luck to you in the challenge.

Playing With Fire

This has potential. Certainly 'Playing With Fire' here...if that pile of matches underneath gets sparked!!! Yikes! There are a couple of technical glitches holding this image back. First, it's blurry like there was some movement of the camera. Second, the flame is overexposed and blown out (fire is tricky to expose correctly for sure). Overall, I like the concept. Good luck in the challenge.

This is a fun photo to look at. The ice seems like it could be a little more sharply focused. Biggest drawback for me on this entry is that without the title I don't see how the viewer can get any connection to the challenge. JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge.
