I like the image, the leading lines into the distance, the vibrant colors, and the composition. Sky is a little pale, but tricky to fix in a basic challenge - best to apply a filter at time of capture (polarizer, split ND, etc...). Biggest drawback for me is the amount of 'Red', in the context of the challenge theme. JMO of course. Really, a wonderful image in most other aspects. Good luck in the challenge.

Overall, it's "ok" IMO. The light fades out a little too much for me in the back left. Nice use of DOF to highlight the red crayon. Now for the rest of the story...

I'm sitting here with my 5 year-old son looking at some challenge thumbs, and he says "Dad, I like the crayon one". I ask him what he likes about it. He thinks the crayons are moving, or rolling away from the red one. Funny, I wouldn't have thought that myself at first glance, but now that he mentions it I can kind of see it. :D Just thought I'd share that with you.

Good luck in the challenge.

Just a tad on the gross side. Not very appealing. Ok for Halloween I guess, just seems out of place here. Sorry. Good luck.

Ok. Here's an update. I'm sitting here with my 5 year-old son and he's like "Dad - I like the skeleton one". Thought I'd share that with you. :D

I like the composition, and it's very well focused (maybe a little oversharpened). Very well balanced lighting also. Couple of things distracting for me are the positioning of her hand (seems very posed and unnatural) and the fingernails could be neater (??? sorry, not a manicurist - don't know the term, just see it as a distraction). Good luck in the challenge.

You mean like this? :D

I like the way you've composed this positioning the center of the flower on the lower left ROT point. Crisp and well focused overall. Lighting glare on the wet paint is a little distracting, but not major. Biggest complaint I have is the handle of the brush. It just jumps right out there and tries to steal the show, if you know what I mean. All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

This is a lovely image and the grain works quite well IMO. You're on the right track I believe (not that I know much about grain. He-he).

Wow. 55+ views at this point. Kind of blows the anonymous entry thing for considering this shot for the challenge anymore. :(

I look forward to seeing more along these lines from you. Nicely done.

How many times a day do we walk past these without thinking about them? Clean, simple, certainly 'Red'... :D Well done. Good luck in the challenge.

This is nice and crisp. Certainly 'Red'. :D Something about the water droplets is throwing me off on this. Maybe it's the pure white lighting? Makes it look a little unnatural and studio(ish), rather than warm lighting you'd get from natural sunlight. All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

Looks like your adventures paid off. Congrats! Nice job on the details and lighting. Liking that new zoom, eh?

Just 6 weeks ago you wrote this in an email discussing Eagles. :D

"...Mason Neck in Alexandria is closer but has fewer eagles so less of a guarantee of seeing one no matter how many hours you spend hiking around there. I speak from experience ;-)"
