A Yellow place to die

Comment:
There certainly is plenty of yellow in this. :-) That being said, I find the subject um, a bit blah? The centered composition isn't helping much either. If you had to photograph a dead fly, then a lower angle and creative shallow DOF perhaps may have given this some life (pun not intended). JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

I like the simplicity of this and the high (yet controlled) contrast. Nice composition as well. Good luck in the challenge.

This almost feels like two photos, one stacked on the other, with the extreme differences in exposure. You may have exposed correctly for the primary subject in the foreground which resulted in the bg kids getting blown out...that's understandable, but I think I would have tried for another angle or POV on this. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

Can't wait to see who took this. :-) Drove right past you on my way to river road. Good luck. I like the color tones in this, and nice balance in your choice of composition.

This is cute, but way overprocessed IMO. Several runs of noise reduction perhaps?

Uh-oh. Looks like you let your in-camera meter make the decision on exposure for you. :) Actually, with snow it's quite common in that the camera wants to record the scene as middle grey (neutral). To compensate you need to intentionally overexpose (use the exposure compensation feature of your camera). Another option is to set a custom white balance using a grey card (or the palm of your hand if you're caucasian works in an emergency).

It's a very scenic setting overall and I like your choice of positioning to get the water channel coming across the image on a diagonal, and the water is starting near the lower ROT line.

All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

This feels like an Ursula shot. Well seen and captured! I hope you share your star secrets afterwards. :-)

Have to love those square crops. Quite the rage nowadays. :-)

This is a fun shot. Nice capture of childhood fun and the falling snow adds a very nice touch of context/action. Good luck.

Nice POV and composition. This may have been even stronger in B/W. The image does seem to be underexposed somewhat. What's the histogram look like? A minor tweak in levels or curves would lighten it up quite easily. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

A thought provoking composition...I'm wondering how many DNMC's you're getting on this. Where's the ice? Is it the snow - frozen rain, so to speak? :-) Good luck.
