Subconsciousby freakin_hilariousComment: I'm not sure what to make of this one. Grain is something I don't mind at times and it works ok here. Kind of an abstract feel to this with the comp. I can't believe I'm still looking at this trying to decide if I like it or not...guess that's a good thing...making the viewer pause. For that, and the gonads to enter this, I'll score it slightly above avg. Good luck. |

Craneby JetComment: Creative lighting. I like the shadows and 3D look it creates. Subject is fun, perhaps too orange overall. THe streaking of the background material is distracting. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

A Yellow place to dieby protein_man2Comment: There certainly is plenty of yellow in this. :-) That being said, I find the subject um, a bit blah? The centered composition isn't helping much either. If you had to photograph a dead fly, then a lower angle and creative shallow DOF perhaps may have given this some life (pun not intended). JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

The gift of Springby margetts91Comment: I like the simplicity of this and the high (yet controlled) contrast. Nice composition as well. Good luck in the challenge. |

Isolatedby the99Comment: This almost feels like two photos, one stacked on the other, with the extreme differences in exposure. You may have exposed correctly for the primary subject in the foreground which resulted in the bg kids getting blown out...that's understandable, but I think I would have tried for another angle or POV on this. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

Winter Sunrise over Chatham Bridgeby The EskimoComment: Can't wait to see who took this. :-) Drove right past you on my way to river road. Good luck. I like the color tones in this, and nice balance in your choice of composition. |

Bottle Caps!by libertyComment: This is cute, but way overprocessed IMO. Several runs of noise reduction perhaps? |

Ice Flowby Mighty_MouseComment: Uh-oh. Looks like you let your in-camera meter make the decision on exposure for you. :) Actually, with snow it's quite common in that the camera wants to record the scene as middle grey (neutral). To compensate you need to intentionally overexpose (use the exposure compensation feature of your camera). Another option is to set a custom white balance using a grey card (or the palm of your hand if you're caucasian works in an emergency).
It's a very scenic setting overall and I like your choice of positioning to get the water channel coming across the image on a diagonal, and the water is starting near the lower ROT line.
All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |
