Good subject material to work with. You're not quite getting the impact/crispness of the water that I think you intended. Lighting is a little flat and the sharpness isn't quite there.

Didn't quite get it square, eh? Have to give you a hard time as I imagine you spent a good deal of effort in lining everything up. :-) I like the materials you used, especially the rope and square (is that cork board?). The red is splotchy...maybe black would have worked better? Just and thought. Anyway, good luck in the challenge.

Nice twist find and I like the isolation of it in your presentation. The overcast grey skies are detrimental. Did you consider pushing this to a highkey or maybe going black & white instead?

First thought on this? What's the smear/nick/mark on the front center white area? Then I see sensor spots that could have been cleaned in post-processing. So, out the gate, I'm leaning on the downside. That sets me up for seeing the downfalls rather than the positives as I continue to take in your photo. Other observations that will help for your next entry are to use a lower ISO to control the noise, and diffuse the lighting to eliminate harsh glare.

The point I'm trying to make is that first impressions are important, and attention to details will improve the viewers first look and impact opinions.

Great control of lighting and focus on this. A bit mundane subject-wise IMO. I think the fading paint actually takes away from this somewhat.
