Red Rock Canyonby 2mccsComment: Looks like a nice place to visit, especially with a camera in hand. :-) The B&W conversion works well. I'm trying to figure out if some things were done in post that are influencing my first impression. Looks like some details are smudged/blurred a tad, like a noise reduction program was applied? If not, then the focal point is the bottom right area (adjoining dark hill is sharpest). The plants in the foreground and mid-foreground seem like they could be more detailed? Then the sky looks like it was plugged in as a new layer or something (I know it wasn't...just the appearance). I say that because of the sharp line of separation at the top of the dark hill and the slight blurring of the sky and contrail.
I could be totally off base in my observations. If so, please accept my apologies in advance. Good luck in the challenge. |

Mary had a little lambby ErikVComment: At first, for a slight second, I thought she was holding a stuffed toy animal. :-) Thank you for a nice, natural portrait. You didn't go crazy in post selectively sharpening the eyes - you let the camera lens do the work for you. Well done! |

End of Summerby sulamkComment: I like the POV. The centered comp isn't bad, but it does seem a bit static. A little sharp on the bee and the whites are hot (lost detail) on the far right. Just some observations. Good luck in the challenge. |

Early Springby MaryOComment: Oooh-ooooh! You should give a lesson to the person that took the photo I commented on a few shots back with similar subject matter. This is exquisite! Wonderful lighting, focus, and DOF. I like the color tones too. Bravo! Good luck in the challenge. |

Think Greenby sigfussonComment: This is a fun still life. I like the spoon for scale. Clever idea using the egg half-shell as a pot. A few minor spots on the glass and egg could be cleaned up (nothing too major). Backdrop seam is a quite evident...not sure whether that matters much or not. I noticed it, so I bring it up. Overall, nicely done. Good luck in the challenge. |

The New And The Oldby CLeeComment: Nice bokeh. I like the diagonals presented...very pleasing comp that way. Whites are a tad blownout on the center buds. Just some observations. Good luck. |

"I'm definitely better from this side".by EgillPComment: Hmmm...I've commenting on many portraits that the eyes are oversharpened, and now I'm thinking here that the eye isn't sharp enough. Maybe I need more coffee? :-) Seriously...the focal point seems to be falling off just (and I mean JUST) before the area above the beak. It's not terrible or anything, just slightly softer than the feathers below and around the lower right. Sorry to nitpik this point... |
