The Ladder...by NikonJebComment: I like the way the ladder is framed in the doorway. The lighting is pleasing and works well for impact. Can't help but feeling like I'm leaning to the left and want to "straighten" the photo. :-) |

Alone at the Beachby ScholtenComment: Great detail! There's a ton of "subjects" and compositions available here in this scene. The one you chose to submit is pleasing overall. The lighting is delightful with the shadows to add depth and interest. Only nit (minor) for me is I think I'd like to see more of "something" than the overall scene. Maybe something with a lower POV and less sky? Just some observations. Good luck in the challenge. |

The road homeby vogueComment: I love winding roads and this one is interesting. Not sure about the time of day and available lighting when you chose to take this photo. Nothing very dramatic about it as the light is somewhat even and flat. JMO of course. Good luck. |

The Landlord's Wifeby h2Comment: Nice to see a portrait that's not all smoothed out with noise reduction, etc... Nice DOF and focus. Cute hat!
Man, this feels so "in your face" that I'm backing away from the monitor. :-) |

A Candid Momentby wolfComment: Very nice lighting...cute girl. Some choices made in post are taking away from this substantially IMO. You have good detail in the areas around her mouth and nose, but her cheeks and especially her eyes are overworked, giving her almost a plastic look (very smoothed out). Her left eye (our right) has lost all detail in the iris. These are obviously just one man's opinion... Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

Today's Catch is.....by wdammanComment: An interesting scene with a nice storyline. Wasn't your choice, but the lighting is quite harsh with the direct sunlight. Not too many options at the time of capture probably, but a little bit of effort in post may have enriched the final presentation (for example, toning down the fish, using some light vignetting, etc...). All JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge. |

Toronto the Goodby VitaminBComment: I'm thinking that HDR was used to obtain the results you have here, especially in the detailed shadows. Regardless...you did a very nice job with post tools to put together a fine image here. Well done! |
