variationsby PennyStreetComment: Wow. You have 5 comments on this already?! :-) I'm revisiting a few portfolios and thought I'd stop by. Honestly, during this challenge I was looking for fences that had some character or added an element to the scene. I guess the fence you chose to capture meets this criteria, but it does so in a much more subtle way. I see by the comments that you had some admirers ... you also had a TON of drive-by 5's (cursory glance, vote, and move along). If you get the feeling I'm rambling here, I am. Trying to find the right thing to say but coming up short. I love a lot of your work but this one just kind of came across flat for me. :-/ |

Every Few Hoursby LydiaComment: During voting I didn't see a clear "pathway" for this image. Coming back around for another look and I 'think' I get it ... it's the sand and the birds use it every few hours? Interesting birds BTW. I wonder if you tried to find a crop that worked that got rid of that pole on the right - I did and didn't see a clean cut without chopping a few birds in half. :-) |

ins and outsby PennyStreetComment: Very interesting location. Love the castle and the various rooftops. For the challenge theme the title of this would have been perfect. I might have slapped a gradient on the upper 20 to 30% of this image as it's a little washed out in the distance. |

Reversal of Fortuneby GeneralEComment: :-) Yes. Well, mostly. It is a bit noisy / grainy. But I like the concept / story better than your entry. |

Would You Care To Reconsider?by GeneralEComment: I'm a bit of a nit-picker and thought that 1) the board & pieces could have been cleaned prior to taking the photo, and 2) turn the pawns so the seam of the plastic pieces don't show.
For the allegory to work perhaps a white king and black pawns would have sold the concept better, unless I'm out in left field and missing the point. |

The Kingby vawendyComment: This was one of my top picks and I found it quite enjoyable. Well played! |

Fairylandby MargaretNetComment: Originally posted by Neat: Way better than mine, harsh voting. |
Oh my goodness. Harsh voting? Only a few 4's and nothing less than hardly seems harsh. |

Fairylandby MargaretNetComment: Nice place indeed. The light is a bit harsh on the foreground flowers, which is a primary piece of this comp. An hour earlier or later could have made a big difference? Wonder how this would have come off with a wide angle lens parke in the front edge of that flower area? |

Time to go out by willemComment: This belongs on a Hallmark card! :-) So many captions you could put with it. |

Spring in a truckby NeatComment: Nice capture. Might have been tempted to go with a more pano type crop to eliminate the dead space at top (washed out sky). The biggest thing that I notice is the white balance, it seems overly warm with strong yellow hues. |
