Alcatraz Islandby AirricKComment: Really like the lighting. Great job with the background gradient lighting effect. As a test shot I think it's ok. This lighting setup has some great uses ahead :)
Shot as is, I only find the hint of the table surface visible behind the model the only distraction. |

Babyby danielvComment: Excellent capture of this wonderfully cute baby. I didn't find the eye being covered a distraction at all. Actually find the tilt of the hat adds charm to the shot. Also like the pastel color theme. The colors are just right for the shot and and do not scream look at me. The baby afterall is the object of interest and affection here. Thought this one should score higher. There is some noise near the edges of the hat and baby's shoulder, so maybe that put some voters off? I have no idea. Only thing I would change, which is ever soo minute , which doesn't make a big difference, is to clone out the little spot on the baby's left shoulder. Message edited by author 2007-02-28 14:38:42. |

Together till the endby crisfComment: It's a very nicely composed shot. I really like it.
Few nitpicks though, the sky is overly noisy compared to the rest of the photo. And the footsteps, two pairs of people but one pair of footsteps? ;) well in concept you could say, it's as if they're indeed together , as a whole. I know how things can come together and not be at the photographer's control. Even if the shot where staged, either way. I didn't take points off my voting scale if I thought it was or not. It's the final shot that counts. |

My Loveby marboComment: Such a beautiful and lush shot. The reds here rock. I've seen and myself tried similar shots and this is so very well done, enough to make it stand out and it still keeps my interest. |

The Young Musicianby xXxscarletxXxComment: awww. Saddened this shot didn't make it in. I was hoping this would do well. I agree with Tim, this is one of your best shots. So if you tried to shoot it specifically for this challenge, which you mostly likely did. It's still a great outcome. You got a great keeper! :D |

Good Vibrationsby nards656Comment: An excellent closeup! clear and crisp. Nicely composed, lit and everything in between :)
I dont get that the 3 comments out of the 5 comments you received during the challenge mention "the no school" connection. I can pick at least 10 other shots that placed better and had no more connection and maybe even less and still didn't get as many DNMC comments, pffft. So including music sheet paper automatically makes the shot on topic eh? hmmm. The challenge topic was sort of confusing without having any specific description, but still dont get the high percentage of DNMC comments here. Perhaps people just don't relate that well to guitars and school days :P Message edited by author 2007-02-21 09:00:16. |

Practice or Pose?by donnamt24Comment: Great idea with the setup. The whole color scheme and composition is very pleasing. I just find the image a bit flat lighting wise. This one definitly needs some contrast/levels adjustments. |

What's Up Father & Sonby sherpetComment: A most splendid b/w portrait. The communication between the two of them speaks volumes. I really like your idea for the composition and the b/w treatment looks great. |
