Building a cityby nico_blueComment: I don't like the border, it's way too big. But I love the contrast between the modern building and the older, rusty machine. 7. |

Forgotten Lullabyby eruelasComment: The should have cropped the upper half, it doesn't add anything to the image. Nice shot for what concerns the visible party, I like the 'golden' look. |

No Clueby EurydiceLivesComment: This looks heavily processed, like you over-used NeatImage or some other filter. |

cutie poodyby leifurComment: Are you kidding me? There's no pet and no person. A big minus. The composition is boring. The lighting highlights the wrong places. The puppy is out of focus. So are the statue's hands. I don't like the colours, you might have tried turning it b&w. 1. |

Dog tiredby aledComment: If your title was 'dog-tired' it would reflect how I feel. I'm tired of dogs. Don't think I'll vote low on you becaue you've sent in 'just another' dog picture. There's other things that you have to improve on. First, this challenge is about humans and their pets, and the connection between them. I can't see any connection here, as there's no person in the picture. And it's really hard to show the connection between the photographer himself (you) and the subject (your dog).
Let's have a look at the technical elements. The piece of wood could have been a nice frame for the shot, had you cropped away the carpet below it and the 50px on the right. The direct flash you used caused too bright reflections on the wood, it makes the dog's eyes look weird and the picture has a 'flat' look. There are no interesting shadows which might have created a stronger athmosphere which this shot would definately have profited from. I give you a 1. |

Man's Last Friendby byshenComment: You might enjoy reading Jack London's short-story 'To build a Fire'. You can find it here: //www.shortstories.computed.net/londonfire.html
I think London's story reflects what you were trying to suggest.
I like the duotone, it works well with the dirt on the clothes and the texture of the fence and grass. The crop is fine, too. I presume this is staged, so you might have written something else on that sign, referring to the relationship dog-man. 'If you don't give me food, I have to eat my dog' ;) Just kidding. Great picture. 8. |

Her little Wonderby jessfrolioComment: It's really hard to see the fish between all those reflections and amid the shadows and the plants. Nice crop. You might have covered the window. It's distracting. 5. |

Cat welcomes ownerby LastgudComment: You should have rotated the picture 90° to the right, and then cropped off the bottom, leaving but the cat and the guy's face. 3. |
