Hello from the critique club

An interestng image that meets the challenge well.

I like your high viewpoint and the diagonal you have chosen to shoot it from it makes for a more dynamic image. The wash indicates that the boat is travelling at some speed again helping the dynamic tension. There are a couple of things that let it down for me, 1, the vignetting in the corners and 2, it feels over-saturated. Its possible that these are the genuine colours but if that is the case I would have been tempted to apply a little desalt to make it look more natural. Thanks for your entry Manic.

Wow, that must have been some adrenaline rush! Excellent timing to capture the boat in that position it has real impact and makes the image unique. Its surprising what even the smallest speck of red has in an image its such a strong vibrant colour. Apart from the tremendous action there is also the scene itself which could only be in Iceland, you lucky people you, I’m not really jealous am I! Anyway, congratulations Benedikt, a well deserved ribbon…

An interesting image that meets the challenge well.

A simple image that conveys a feeling of loneliness and isolation but more than that it portrays the stress that results from the pressure school children are subjected to at this time of year with all their exams. I like your low level viewpoint and shallow DOF to isolate the person and their belongings it works well. I don’t know if it was posed or an opportunist moment, nevertheless it still gets the message over, well done Marcel

An interesting image that meets the challenge fully.

Congratulations for your well deserved ribbon Susan, fully justified. What a great comic strip, I like the theme and the execution it certainly has a Hitchcock feel, particularly the last frame, the mono presentation also adds melodrama to the end result. I love the second frame and the graphics, all done to perfection well done Susan.

Great composition Marcel, well captured. The diagonal is what makes this work so well and filling the frame as you have it fulfils the brief completely. I like the reflections on the underside of the plane it adds an intriguing touch to the end result. Everything is in good sharp focus, all in all an excellent result both in score and position well done Marcel.

I love your viewpoint Susan well chosen, it makes for an original image. I also love the long exposure it makes the image much more dynamic and engaging. Although the desat is necessary for the challenge the sepia toning works well. All the technical stuff is well chosen and effective. Don’t suppose there’s any of that delicious sounding ice cream left?

A phenomenal skyscape, very nicely captured Marcel. I like the near mono effect with very subtle colour tones at the bottom the frame. The composition is good with the heavy emphasis necessary for this dramatic sky. The only comment I would make is that I would have preferred a natural scene without the huge light poles and housing. The diagonals of the suns rays are very pleasing and nicely contrasted, well done Marcel

A very fitting study for this challenge that will definitely be in the minority! A lovely landscape with lovely unique light, the composition includes all the interesting features in a pleasing balance and variation of colour. The long shutter speed has given emphasis to the falling water that makes it the important feature that it needs to be. A pleasing entry Otto, thanks

A pleasing landscape and interesting interpretation of this effectively open challenge. Your composition is good with the walkway forming the focal point and the still waters have duplicated it nicely with its reflections. The blue light dominates and the silhouettes of the trees make a pleasing frame, the foreground tree however is a little detrimental to the effect. Overall a nice result but a chainsaw could have been useful here Drake!

These ‘gators are never gonna be hungry are they! Another great action shot Ronnie, you wanna be careful, if you get much closer you or your camera or both could end up alongside the poor old red eared slider, heaven forbid! Probably not your best image in this series but certainly another very competent image, well done.
