A coat of paint won't fix this... by Ja-9Comment: Hello from the critique club
A great image that contributes to the challenge well
Cor blimey Janine, I think you caught that just in time! What a cracker for the challenge theme. As for Skipâs comments, Iâm not sure what he means about the shadow spread on the antenna? And as far as the halos are concerned is that the result of the sharpening? Anyway, congratulations on the ribbon, well deserved. Title? What about âBleak Houseâ or âjust a little TLC neededâ¦â

It Sure Looks Greener...............by PhocalComment: Hello from the critique club
A great image that contributes to the challenge well
A lovely image Ronnie, you have every right to be pleased with the lensâ performance. I like the composition with the bird to the left looking in, it works well. What I am not so keen on is the centre background, especially in view of the challenge theme, it rather dominates but the clump of grass on the right does save the day⦠Anyway, it was rightly appreciated here which is what matters well done with your high placing. |

American Girlby PompouspeteComment: Hello from the critique club
A great image that contributes to the challenge well
A lovely portrait Peter, congratulations on your high score and placing. The pose is very effective as commented it has a flowing feel to it, there is a feeling of professionalism about it everything has been carefully prepared. The lighting is nice and even, she looks really lovely. The dress does have a vintage feel to it and as such I think perhaps if we could have seen more of it it would have filled the theme even more, we need your comments to highlight it for us, it might also have helped to identify her as American? |

A great image that contributes to the challenge well
Well, it works for me Susan, a great image. Youâve certainly generated some interesting critique, âdidnât notice the guy sitting on itââ¦!?! For me it is always the end result that Iâm interested in Iâm not really interested in what or how much work has gone into it but all credit to you for the amount of effort involved. Itâs original, I like the distortions, I like the sparks, most of all I like the excitement it generates with âTomâ driving it all along in his own cool way. Yes, it would look great as an album cover a great tribute to a great artist, well done Susan. |

Ok, I Will....................by PhocalComment: Hello from the critique club

Ah the green heron again! I agree with you about the spiderâs focus but its still a great image Ronnie and the spider is detailed enough to be an integral part of the image so it adds impact it doesnât detract which is the all important consideration. Its a very appropriate contribution to the challenge, well done again Ronnie |

Biting the dustby snafflesComment: Hello from the critique club

A most appropriate choice for the challenge Susan. I like your mono presentation, the composition is perfect but what completes it is the concentrated but featureless expression of the driver, it works well. Your timing is good too, capturing the destruction as the bucket 'bites' into the debris. Congratulations on your placing and score, well done |

Breaking Throughby PixelstateComment: Hello from the critique club
A lovely landscape that contributes to the open challenge well
This is an iconic landscape that has been, for obvious reasons, photographed many times before and this is up there with the best of them, well done Chris. I like your low viewpoint and the way the light is reflected off the wet boulders in the foreground it works really well. The breaking waves and the stormy sky are the icing on the cake, so to speak.

A great action shot that contributes to the open challenge well
What a great shot Ronnie, you have every right to be well proud of this cracking action shot. The focus is perfect the eyes and minnow are the most important aspects and they are nicely captured. I like the shape of his wings in the background and the disturbance on the water as he takes off. All that against the soft focus backdrop is a delight. What a great combination your canoe, lens and a patient, proficient you, keep âem coming Ronnie⦠|

An appealing image that contributes to the open challenge well
Youâre right, she is incredibly photogenic. Itâs a nice pose and composition, I like the way she is sitting to one side, probably because of that I would have been tempted to move the swing further to the right to make it a little less central. I like the rim lighting around her hair it works well. Youâve got good exposure and detail in her face and the focus and DOF is appropriate, a lovely image Jon, thanks for sharing Karragen with us. |

Looking for Lunchby PhocalComment: Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that meets the challenge well
Do they really stretch out upside down then? The image itself is up to your normal high standards Ronnie and no less amazing what you can do with your kit hand-held a credit to you. As far as the challenge is concerned there is not much else you could have done with but inevitably in terms of this challenge you were always going to be up against it so your score might not be as high as you wished for but nevertheless still respectable.
