Calf roper, ropin horse and calfby snafflesComment: Hello from the critique club

Ah, poor calfâ€Â¦! What a strange challenge! A great original image Susan, I love your low viewpoint and head on position it works well, I also like the inclusion of the background audience it adds to the atmosphere of the action. Your challenge amendments are most humorous they add fun to the end result, we all like a laugh, well done. |

Great dynamics Drake, lots of comments, which also goes to prove the value of a title to an image, not only does it add value to the image but it also gives an insight into the photographer's thoughts and aims in creating the image which again helps the commenter to assess the image. Anyway, all that said, the snow shower fills the frame nicely which would overpower the hard to see bird, its very fortunate the bird is such a bright scarlet colour it still manages to come through. |

As you say Anton, lots of comments, which also goes to prove the value of a title to an image, not only does it add value to the image but it also gives an insight into the photographer's thoughts and aims in creating the image which again helps the commenter to assess the image. Anyway, all that said, there is a surprisingly sharp DOF for such a large aperture, it works, the suns light and rays adds a nice touch of drama to the scene. |

What a lot of positive comments, a deserving image. As you say, lots of lovely detail I bet it looks good on your print. It would probably have scored if, again as you say, it was more dynamic with prey in his beak too, as it is it is still a great image, well done Ronnie |

This certainly fulfils the challenge brief, indeed it is the built environment on a grand scaleâ€Â¦! It works especially well having been taken at night it emphasises the scale of the scene. I love the curved horizon, you have used the wide-angle perspective to good advantage and you have given it a good exposure with good detail throughout. Nicely done Drake |

Hello Emily and welcome to DPC. For your first outing with a real camera I have to say well done! This is a good composition that shows you have a good 'seeing' eye and also has originality and therefore interest. I like the span that forms the topmost boundary, the netting detail, the centre pole it all works well together. I look forward to your future entries with interest Emily |

I love the fisheye exaggerated perspective Ronnie! It is very creative use of a very creative lens, the foreground and towers balance each other out nicely. I like the inky blackness and vivid colours but most of all the motion blur adds the final touch, all very nicely done |

A pleasing image Marcel. It is clearly evident that you have taken the time and trouble to get symmetry within the scene and it works well for it. I like the inclusion of the person walking towards you it adds the human element which brings the scene alive. Whilst it is a competent recording of the street perhaps a lower viewpoint may have injected a bit more originality and appeal into it. |

St. Andrews church and cemetery by RulerZigzagComment: Hello from the critique club

Your composition works well with nice framing from the tree. The low viewpoint emphasises the near headstone nicely but the downside is that it exaggerates the converging verticals of everything else, the spire of the church is fine but everything else rather feels as though its falling backwards. All the colours are nicely saturated and warm looking, a pleasing image Anton, well done. |

This is a lovely nightime shot of an iconic scene. The composition is pretty much determined by the nature of the scene in front of you though to be honest, I think I would have preferred St. Pauls to be further to the left with more of the cityscape under the bridge to the right, I would probably have cropped it just to the right of the church tower. I like your mono processing you have a lovely range of rich tones with good contrasts, nice. You have given the camera sufficient support everything is very nicely sharp, all in all a nice result, well done Konrad |
