Old and Newby KellsFotosComment: This image looks like it was compressed a little bit too much. It looks like it could be great without the distortions.

great-grandmotherby paha_lComment: At first, I found the monitor a bit distracting, and then I realized that was likely a second "old and new" aspect of the picture--the old photo on the computer screen. I think the three elements in the photo (the old woman, the child and the monitor) make it difficult to find the right elements to emphasize. I find my eyes pulled towards the monitor buttons instead of the child, for instance. I wonder if there would have been some other way of conveying the fact the photo was on a monitor but de-emphasizing the monitor portion so that the two people in the picture have focus?

Literature Bridges Timeby MarkComment: I like the idea of the two contrasts you are doing here--old stories (e.g. Lord of the Rings) with newer ones (Timeline) and well-worn books vs. newer books. I think the lighting in the picture could be a bit better (the glare off of the books on the right in particular is distracting).

oldpodby injektidComment: It took me a second to realize what this was a picture of, but I like the creativity of reflecting off of an iPod case. I think contrasting the white of the iPod with a non-white object may have been more effective (say, with a black LP). I'm curious what this would have looked like if the iPod text was in focus also, with the background a bit blurry. (I thought of taking a picture of an iPod in front of some records, but your approach is more interesting.)
