while i concur whole-heartedly with the sentiment, the execution is too snap-shotty. i don't know if it was due to flash, or how you set up the lighting, but the shadows are too strong. these are tough, tough images to capture (that is, working with children). good luck.

interesting image. the shadows on the background are a little distracting. not really sure how domination equates to authority, especially symbolized by a whip (i mean, i can more easily see a gun as a symbol of enforcing authority), and especially without any other context. the composition is ok, the lighting fine, and the focus is sharp enough. just really not seeing the subject as a strong tie to the challenge.

i understand your intention, but this really does not convey authority. maybe if someone was keeping bystanders away? the composition is not helped by the pole splitting it down the middle, and the dof is a bit too shallow.

even though the title is part of the submission, it should be in a role that supports the image. here, the title is the only thing tying the image to the challenge. as far as the image goes, the composition is interesting, but the lighting and focus are off. the knife is a distraction, and the angle and cropping could be played with to produce a more dynamic result. also, it might have helped to have wiped the plate clean before shooting. does any of this matter? it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. if you want to raise your scoring, you really have to pay attention to all of the details (and i know, i'm still struggling here!). good luck here, and better luck next time!

lucky to be able to shoot from this perspective. it's a shame that you couldn't get a shot of a ref exerting his authority on the court...as is, i see guys walking away from someone. also, the presentation itself would have been stronger if you had rotated it to remove the tilt. i know this venue didn't offer the best lighting, but the focus needs to be a little sharper, as well.

i do not know the foley's, so there is no way for me to question their authority. unfortunately, your image does not convey authority to me. it comes across more as a snapshot that is a little over-exposed.

this is funny! nice take on the challenge. one thing you might consider before submitting, though, is to true up your vertical and horizontal lines. here, it is a little distracting to follow the tilted line down the edge of the sign. i'll still score this a 6, but will also say that attention to the little details that you have control over can make a world of difference with the voters...
