this is a strange image. unfortunately, i'm having a hard time deciphering it. if it is blurry on purpose, there is too much hidden detail. if it is blurry just because that is the way it is, you might want to get a tripod. i like the quirkiness of the shot, but feel that i'm missing something.

i don't know what i would do if presented this opportunity. i guess, that, if it wasn't for the authority challenge, i wouldn't be taking a shot of that sign. i bet you had a lot more fun shooting other images, besides this one. if anything, i'd suggest trying for a deeper dof.

while i appreciate your take on the challenge, i think the execution could use some work. first, even though i am unfamiliar with Psalm 91, i am finding nothing in the text you've provided that speaks to authority. it is almost as if you simply opened up a Bible and snapped a shot. second, it could have been made more interesting if you had chosen a Bible that used multiple fonts and font styles (realizing, of course, that not everyone has access to lots of Bibles). the lighting and focus are fine, it's just the content that you've provided isn't the most dynamic.

if your camera can use one, i would highly recommend a circular polarizing filter. it lets you take these images without having to blow out the sky. i bet you got a lot of other interesting shots while you were out there!

interesting take on the challenge, showing the result of authority being applied, as opposed to authority itself. the expression is suitable. i wonder if the image would be stronger if cropped into to just the hand and eyes--if you're going to go that route, why not go all the way?
