this image doesn't work for me, either as a photograph, or for the challenge. as a photograph, it is too polished--there are hardly any textures. compositionally, you are looking down on the subject. also, he is framed in such a way as not to offer any context. imagine how this would have turned out if you had put the camera on the ground and shot up through the fire into his face. as for the challenge, there is no context for me that this is early, early in the morning. the way it's lit (and with no other context), this could be 3 in the afternoon, 6 in the evening, 8 in the morning. all the same, i'm sure those 'librodo' eyes will keep this shot from completely tanking for you.

honestly, i like the idea more than i like this particular image. this one takes too much work to reconcile. i was/am taken by the colors, but not by the effort to tell what i'm looking at. this does have potential, it's just not being realized here in this image.

this is one of those images that leaves me shaking my head. it's obvious you have a decent camera, and you know your way around post-processing. if you aren't getting the scores you think you deserve, check out this thread

an ornament, shot badly, in the dark. i like the colors, but, beyond that, don't find the image that engaging. as for the challenge, there's nothing here that really places it.

i'm going to guess that this is not scoring as well as you would like. i hope you are getting some comments as to why. from my perspective, it is basically a snapshot of some food, taken dead on, with the onboard flash. if you want to do better, spend some time in the archives, looking at the images that do well, then try to recreate those shots yourself. you can do it, but it takes practice. and, it takes a lot more than simply pointing your camera at something. beyond dpc, if you want your photography to improve, you need to learn how to get your camera to tell stories with images that invite people in and make them want to stay and visit.
