Climbing Linesby UrfaKComment: Urfa,
Thanks for your coment on my Beach entry and I thought I would return the favor. I think this has some really strong lines and is a cool find. A suggestion right off the top is to have your photo be a larger file size. The max allowable is 150 kb and your is 58 kb. This means you could have had hearly three times the smoothness in edges and details. I notice this is one ting that can keep a score down abit. Here is a link to he photoshop tutorial on this site for submitting photos for challenges. But I thikn you had a used a good perspective and like the wide angle feel. Thanks again.

Glucose Highwayby LactobeezorComment: Mark,
Thanks for your comment on my Beach entry, I thoguth I would return the favor. This definitely has lines running through it! I think I would have maybe had the entire image be alittle brighter, perhaps just a little slower shutter speed, this would have made the lines even brighter. Just a suggestion, thanks again for your comment.

No Two The Sameby FromacComment: Richard,
thanks for your comment on my beach entry and I thought I would return the favor. This is a very cool shot and I like your take on lines and the lighting is great. I agree with one of the commentors that the crop on the thumb is too tight. Since it is the main subject I think it would have helped to have the whole thumb in the frame. I thnk I would have given this a six and if your thumb was all the way in a 7 or 8. Its a good shot but the dynamic lines and strange perspective I think held you back from a better score because that isn't what most DPC voters like to see. But I like it! Thanks again for your comment.

Just Thinkingby hotpastaComment: Enzo,
Thanks for your comment on my Beach Entry and thought I would return the favor. Congrats on your top 30 finish and great score! i love the depth of field on this photo. My only suggestion, which is one more of personal taste than technicals would be a slightly tighter crop, cropping out some of the left side and top, so that by using the rule of thirds, the birds eye is right at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical, but thats just me. Congrats again on the score and thanks for the comment.

The Infamous Beachby gliphixComment: Joem, thanks for you comment on my Beach entry, it was appreciated and I am glad you liked it and thoguth I would return the favor. I must say I gave this photo an 8 and thought it was great. One thing I noticed on closer inspection was that your file size is only 73 kb and the max is 150 kb, this means that your edges would have been twice as smooth. This link is to the tutorial on this site using photo shop to save for the web. Other than that I thought it was a great photo and I like the composition. Thanks again for the comment.

No Fingers!by mpetersComment: Hello Mark, I just wanted to say thanks for your comment on my beach entry and thought I would return the favor. During the challenge I obviously didn't get the connection and it wasn't until I came back now that i finally got it and wished I had scored it better as I try to always socre up things out of the box. I think first I would try to make sure that entries are as close to 150 kb size limit as possible, yours is 110 kb. There is a tutorial for photo shop on this site incase you don't know how to do it. The other suggestion I would have made would been to have maybe rotated the plate so the fish was more inline with the lines under the plate. Thanks again for the comment. |

Structural Integrityby KonadorComment: Konador, Thanks for my comment on my beach entry and I only wish you were right! I have decided to give a comment on all commentors on my shot. I am think this was a good shot for the lines challenge, some suggestions that I could make would maybe be a different crop where more of the reflections of the building were present so that the eye could follow it to the building. the water looks really smooth and its almost hard to tell if the building pilings go deep in the ground or if the water is just an inch or two high. good placement to considering the size of the pchallenge. thanks again for your comment. |
