Kim,
Thanks for your comment on my on the beach entry and I thought I would return the comment.
Tsweet moment you have captured here. I think the color is good and lighting as well. One thing that stands out right away is the tilted horizon, I think this line should really be horizontal and detratcs from the photo abit. Another thing would have been to shoot from a much lower angle so that the photo felt like it was more from the child's perspective. Black and white may have been a nice touch but I am not sure I would have done. And one other thing that may have helped your score would to be to have the photo larger, at the 640 px limit. I hope you found these suggestions helpful and thankd again fpr your comment.

Tate,
Thanks for you comment on my on the beach entry and I thought I would return the comment. This is a cool image for gold and makes me want beer. To me it appears that alot of the highlights in the glass appear blown out specifically in the rim of the glass. I think the composition is great but could see how many people may find it distracting. If I had voted I would have given it a 6, higher if all highlights were there. Thanks again for your comment.

kelli,
Thanks for your comment on my on the beach entry and I am now coming back to give you a comment:).
I think this entry is very well composed as my eye is drawn to the boy from the rule of thirds as well as from the line of the wave to which runs to the head of the boy. The only thing I could suggest would myabe to have used a wider angle or lowere perpective to get more of the beach area and possibly the horizon. A more open composition may have helped show the concentration and focus of the boy also. It may also have lost impact with the boy smaller in the phot also I am not sure. Just a suggestion. Thanks again for your comment.

Vikas,
Thanks for your comment on my On the Beach entry, I thought I would return the favor.
Then first thing I notice is the the photo is only 600 px instead of 640 and the file size is 113 kb instead of closer to the max allowable of 150 kb. I find tht alot of photos will get marked down for being too small rather then the merit of the actual photograph. here is the link to preparing shots for submission using photoshop, which may be helpful.
As far as the photo I think it is good, I think for perspective they were looking for more of a repeating pattern or something to show depth. Perhaps being farther away to show how large the bulding in may have helped out. I think the composition is good and like the thline in the photo I just wish that there was more of them. THanks again.

Josh, Thanks for your comment on my on the beach entry, I thought I would return the favor. I think your composition and lighting on this photo are great. My main critique would be about the actual phot size itself, I wisj it was the full 640 max size, yours is 620, and your file size is 82 kb and the max is 150 kb. using the full file size would have helped smooth out the shot so the small details in the pier would be less jaggedy. Here is the link to the preparing images for challenge tutorial using photoshop. Hor this was helpful, thanks again for a comment.

Brad, thanks for your comment on my Beach entry, I thought I would return the favor. And first welcome to DPC!, this is a great first entry. I think as someone already commented I would have framed the sun alittle off to the side, maybe to the right side so you could have gotten alittle more beach in your shot. Also the max file size for a submission is 150 kb and your is 93 kb. This means that some edges would have been smoother, like the horizon and bit less jaggedy lke in the leaves. Here is a link to the tutorial on this site for preparinf submissions using photoshop, I am not sure what you used but I often see that photos with a low file size get scored lower for no other reason than its alittle jagged and not on the quality of the photo. Also I am not sure what you used to edit your photo but I would suggest playing with selective color and some curves, here is link to what I did just with those two adjustment layers. If you have any questions send me a PM, and once again welcome to DPC.

Nitin,
Thanks for your comment on my Beach entry, although I am not Rikki I took it as quite a compliment :). You caught the light at a great time of day as the the sand is perfectly golden. My one thing I might change is the crop to have the person right on the spot where the horizontal and vertical thirds cross like this, but this is just my personal preference, Since there is little to focus on your eye can follow the footsteps to subject of your title to a spot where the eye naturally goes. Just a suggestion and congrats on the six plus score it is well deserved.
