And you can't tell which branch is which, like two perfectly matching souls... Amazing shot, beautiful trees with so perfectly fractal shapes.
I would have gone totally opposite here with the lightness, as you would guess from my trees. Have to try this in my next black&white edits. Usually, as Iain said, mine also end up looking low contrast.

I like the contrast of big black rectangles in front and the fine lines in the trees. If I took this I would probably stand up just a bit more, just to detach the trees from the brick on the left. Still a superb image.

BTW, Motovun hosts the international film festival for independent and avant-garde films. And another wikipedia fact - Mario Andretti was born here! (sorry, just had to share this one :)

Amazing, the background reminds me of Alan Lee's illustration of the Dead Marshes from the Lord of the rings... and I just saw Anita's image from New Zealand :). Interesting how the painting texture is applied - is it a gradient from bottom to top or just naturally, as the scene goes out of focus?
