I didn't even notice the shadow when I was looking at these from work. The shadow totally "makes the shot". I love it. If you cropped the shadow out, it would just be an ordinary kiss (well, I like that she bent her right leg and put her hand on him, those work well), but the shadow adds a whole other dimension and makes this a very interesting shot.

Sharpening around tree branches is tricky ... it is very easy to over-sharpen small details like tree branches. Notice the white halos around the branches? You have two choices: 1) turn down the sharpening, or 2) undo the sharpening in the areas that become overly sharp (by using the history brush, or by putting the sharpened image into a layer and then masking out the sharpening).
