I was trying to think of a creative way for the dominant image to be out of focus while leaving "something of interest" still in focus.

But I think you are right... whatever I decide to put the focus on immediately *becomes* the subject. I don't know how to get around that without making the image more of a "mistake" (i.e. randomly change the focus and see what you get).

Awesome shot! Love the exposure as well as the starburst effect. Silhouettes are very sharp with just the right amount of highlighting on them. Very nicely done.

Very nice! The bottom right corner sorta gets lots... and the lamp in the very middle gets a little confused with the clouds (might be worth cloning in some blue sky around the lamp), but otherwise this is very nicely done!
